Friday Bullets!

This has been an emotional week for me.  Quite happy it’s Friday.  Next week is a short week and I’ll get to celebrate my birthday, Thanksgiving Day and a fun trip to LA with Pete, Ayelet and Lucy.

  • Kudos to Pete for getting his revoked Driver’s License reinstated within 1 week.  I did not think it was possible to get the DMV to resolve anything within a week, but he masterfully steered both the NJ DMV and the CA DMV to resolve his problem quickly.  Impressive!
  • I am currently working on a Blog entry about the USC vs. Stanford game last weekend.  I am still processing the experience.
  • This afternoon, I’ll be shutting down my computer early to head to the city to meet up with the fabulous pregnant Anna.  Bless her heart for agreeing to meet me at the wine bar at the ferry plaza, even though the wine bar has nothing much to offer a pregnant lady!
  • Tomorrow night, we’re getting together with great friends for a fun dinner in the city.  I feel so fortunate to have wonderful friends in my life to celebrate my birthday with me.  We’re trying a new Peruvian seafood restaurant, called La Mar.
  • The weather has been so fabulous, it is hard to believe that the Holidays are rapidly approaching.  I’d love to get all of my shopping done early, but that never seems to happen.
  • Oh YES!  My sister, Laura, and her husband, Keith have just closed on their new home in Rancho Cordova — contrats sis!  I’m really looking forward to Christmas up in Sacramento in a month or so.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Friday Bullets!

This weather confuses me!  Don’t get me wrong, I love it.  85 degrees in November?  Bring it on!  Is this Global Warming?  A late Indian Summer?  Pete makes fun of me because I am soooo focused on the weather.  I am ridiculous, bordering on obsessive.  I visit on a daily basis and seriously, the weather affects my day to day mood:  when it is cold & gray, I am unhappy – when it is warm & sunny, I am ecstatic.  Regardless, I’m looking forward to wearing my flip flops ALL WEEKEND LONG.

  • Okay, this really annoyed me: –  isn’t her 5 minutes of fame over?!?!? I really wish she’d go back to her little life in Alaska and stop talking to the media.
  • I received a comment this morning that made me truly happy.  Lately, I’ve been a bit bland with my blog contributions… this comment has inspired me to write more often.  Every now and then I do have thought-provoking and insightful things to say.  In fact, this gal  does a pretty great job in the thought-provoking & insightful department in her own blog
  • Tomorrow, Pete, Barbara and I heading over to Palo Alto to catch the USC vs. Stanford football game.  This should be a great game, since Stanford shocked the world last year by beating USC who were favored to win by over 40 points!  I’ll be rooting for Stanford since I’m a local girl, but Barbara is a USC alum.  Should be fun!
  • On Sunday, I am visiting a great friend who I have not seen in WAY TOO long.  I am embarrassed to admit, my friend had a baby girl over 6 months ago and I still have not met her beautiful baby.  We are meeting at Santana Row, one of my favorite South Bay destinations.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Friday bullets!

Okay, Monday feels like it was weeks ago.  Did I really drive into the city to meet with the CIO of a large insurance company just 4 days ago?  The meeting went well, but I realize that the deal that has been brewing for 2 years (!!!) is not even close to coming to fruition.  (sigh) Life as a salesperson.  I have zero patience which is not good in these situations.

This has been an interesting week.  I’m engaged in lots of “activity”, but there sure ain’t a lot of folks opening their purse strings.  I guess it is better to have something to do, althoug these “activites” (demos, due diligence, software evaluations, etc) seem more like an academic exercises, rather than real business purchasing situations.

I was thinking today… remember – just a few months ago – when were were crying over the price of gas?  Can we go back to those days, PLEASE?

Anyways…. TGIF people:

  • I’m happy that there are at least 3 more baseball games before the season officially shuts down for the Winter.  Can we stretch it out to 5 more games?  I am rooting for the Phillies (I’m a National league gal) but I do appreciate the Tampa Bay “story” (they lost the most games of any team last year – well maybe except for the Giants – and this year they are in the World Series, it’s a good “Cinderella” story).
  • I’ve been planning to walk the Lafayette Reservoir 10k for months now (it’s an annual tradition).  Got a nice group of folks joining me.  Here’s a shocker: Mr. Pete will be joining us too (!!!)  Noone is more shocked than I.  We’ll see if I can get him out of bed Sunday am…  Regardless I’m looking forward to a fun walk on Sunday with the gang, with Brunch at Chow Lafayette to follow.
  • I’ve been invited to a “Call Party” to support the Obama campaign Sunday afternoon.  Basically like-minded Democrats will meet up in a social environment and make calls to undecided voters in an attempt to persuade them to vote Obama.  I am of two minds about this.  Part of me understands that this is an important election and it is crucial to do what we need to do to enact a change in administration.  Another part of me feels like it is each voters’ right to vote for whomever he/she feels is the right choice.  Who am I to tell someone what to do?  Perhaps I’m overthinking this due to the fact that I am personally feeling  “harrassed” into voting Republican.  Refer to blog post of 10/19/08.
  • Oh!  Which reminds me… I invited a friend to join me at the Call Party.  I got a response back from her telling me that she’s a registered Republican so it might not be a good idea.  LOL, Oops! I am totally fine with her position and am not at all interested in trying to get her to change her allegiance.
  • Happy Happy…. SOOO Happy that although it is cold in the mornings, the afternoons have been amazingly warm & beautiful.

Friday Bullets!

Where do I begin?  Aye yay yay.  This week has been a blur… Sales presentations in the city, issues with deals that occurred last year, dwindling sales due to the economy, webinars, back to back calls, issues with partners, dealing with a boss who is wondering about dwindling sales due to the economy… I feel like Superwoman, cause I made it!  At 3:53pm on a Friday afternoon, things seem have stabilized and I can finally do what I love most: blog!

I want to dedicate a blog post to my fabulous Chicago trip last weekend with my fabulous friend, Ayelet.  So watch this space.  For now, it’s Friday!

  • LOVE that the ALCS has been extended due to a crazy comeback by the Boston Red Sox last night….  brought back VERY BAD memories of Game 6 of the 2002 World Series, but I have no emotional connection to either the Red Sox or the Tampa Bay Rays, so it’s just fun to get more baseball.  I wasn’t ready to have to wait until Wednesday for the start of the World Series.  I don’t really care who wins it… ideally, Boston wins Game 6 so we can go to Game 7.  May the best team win!
  • Dealing with a situation where a partner of ours (Quest, they acquired the partner we had great relations with, NetPro… suddenly it’s a new ballgame) has gotten spookily proprietary about a deal that MY COMPANY brought to the table oh, 2 years ago or so.  We have a meeting with the CIO on Monday.  Except for WE is HE (Quest sales person) and HE is not being very forthcoming with details, information.   HE got the meeting by default cause the old NetPro sales rep (who I had a trusting relationship with got fired in said acquisition) had secured the meeting months ago.  What worries me is that HE should need ME in the meeting, but boy ain’t calling me back.  I am willing to bet everything I just wrote makes zero sense, but that is the state of my life at the moment.
  • It’s in the mid-80s in October, I can’t complain.  Wearing a tank top and skirt, getting ready to head out to Sideboard to meet up with my pal, Barbara, for dinner.  I am sooo not prepared for winter to arrive.
  • Planning a mini-vacay to L.A for over Thanksgiving Day weekend.  I know my wonderful husband is not pleased (boo hoo!  it may cut into his poker playing time), but I’m feeling the need to escape the cold, hit the beach and mingle with the pretty people.  Hey, it’s my birthday weekend and god knows, hubby gets PRINCE-like treatment for the two or three weeks around his birthday.  Suck it up, buster!
  • Tomorrow Lucy & I will be joining my girls Jackie & Kathy to walk the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Golden Gate Park.  It’s a five mile walk and obviously for a good cause.  I should find something pink for my non-girly Lucy to wear.
  • One word to get you to laugh (okay three): “Joe the plumber” ….oops I mean Sam.  After Thursday night’s debate, it really feels like Obama is in the driver’s seat.  But as my girl Ayelet warns, it ain’t over.  Gotta send in my absentee ballot asap.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Friday Bullets!

It’s Friday afternoon and I’m “all alone”… As in my coworkers are all away so guess who gets to answer every fricken call?  Oh! you need help configuring your MX records and opening your firewall port?  um.  yeah.  gulp.  My boss is too much.  Just before he left for his errand, he says, “go pee now cause you are going to be swamped for the next two hours”.  The funny part is the phone has not rung once since he left (please don’t let me jinx myself) and I’m SOO getting kudos for being a “team player”.   Note to self: plan to take a day off very soon.

Anyhoo, it is Friday so here we go!

  • For those of you who read yesterday’s post…  the saga continues.  Last night I dreamt of sea monsters.  I kid you not.  Must go on DreamMoods now and see what that is all about.  I am a bit scared.
  • Getting my nails done in a few hours, then will be heading to my favorite Danville bistro, Sideboard for a glass of vino and quick dinner with a pal.
  • The weekend is jam packed full.  Tomorrow, in keeping with my beautification effort (don’t laugh), I will be heading into the city bright and early to see my miracle worker, Lana who will no doubt transform me into the beauty queen I aspire to be (in my dreams, of course).
  • Then I will head down to the Ferry Building to meet up with my mom for a (hopefully) relaxing lunch.
  • Then – and yes, we are still on Saturday – I plan to meet up with one of my partners from Toronto who is visiting SF with his wife.  I love doing the tourist thang, so I suggested drinks at the Top of the Mark — unless of course YOU have a better suggestion… please comment below.
  • Whew!  Saturday will be long… but fun no doubt.  Sunday will be much more relaxing I promise.  Lucy and I – and hopefully we can con Pete into coming too – intend to chill out at our favorite Danville resort, Chez Ayelet!  We’re talking wine, bbq and pool action.  Can’t ask for anything better in the SF Bay area.

Have a great weekend peeps (that is a shout out to Pete)!

Friday Bullets!

I spent most of this week working out on the patio since the weather has been so pleasant.  Can’t complain too much, eh?

  • I have found myself addicted to StumbleUpon.  I have spent hours this week “StumblingUpon” websites.  The way it works is you download a toolbar then set up your categories, ie: interests.  Everytime you click on the “Stumble” button a new website will pop up that StumbleUpon believes you will enjoy based on your categorical selection.  You can then click on either the “thumbs up” button or the “thumbs down” button which will help StumbleUpon fine-tune its choices for you going forward. Very cool, very addictive!  Folks, if you are ever in need to kill time, this is the place to go.
  • I haven’t felt very inspired blogwise, as you can tell from the quality of my posts this week.  Hopefully next week will be different.  I’ve been in a bit of a funk and I know it is related to all the emotional baggage from my infertility woes.
  • Oh, this is interesting.  I’ve decided that above mentioned infertility woes is a perfect reason to break my abstinence from alcohol.  All week I have pondered opening a bottle of wine, but haven’t been able to bring myself to actually do it.  Very weird, very non-me.  Maybe it’s guilt?  Maybe I’ve gotten used to having a clear mind ALL the time?!  Who knows!

On to the fun…

As usual I’ve packed in some fun:

  • Tomorrow, Pete, Lucy, and I are off to Redwood City.  Pete’ll play golf with Bert while my mom, Lucy and I head to Half Moon Bay for some beach play.  I’ve been craving beach exposure lately.
  • Sunday, Lucy and I will meet girlfriends at Chrissy Field for a walk (hopefully it won’t be bone-chilling cold as is the norm in summer in SF) and lunch.  Lucy is one of the gals, for sure!
  • Lucy and I will culminate the afternoon with a glass of chardonnay (I think???) at Sideboard with another pal.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Friday Bullets

I’m in a much happier place today.  I am extremely lucky to have wonderful friends in my life to help me maintain my sanity.   I hope they know I appreciate them beyonds words on a blog.

Also, it’s FRIDAY!  Oh just as an aside, it was another single line on the plastic device, but I’m done bitching about that for today.

Here’s what’s going on:

  • My mom turned 45 (oops, I mean 65) this week.  We are celebrating with a visit to Copia and lunch at Downtown Joe’s in Napa.  For some reason she is making a big deal out of turning 65, even though the reality is people mistake her for my sister!  Happy Birthday, Mom!
  • I’ve been on a blogging spree this week… I moved my blog from Blogger to WordPress.  Blogger got too buggy and unreliable for me, and so far so good with WordPress.  I also registered a domain, and helped miss Lucy set up a blog with a domain,  Visit her blog, it’s pretty entertaining.
  • I am being a very green, Good Samaritan today.  I am giving my old Blackberry to a man who’s kid’s cellphone broke and he is looking for a replacement before the contract expires.  I signed up for an Yahoo Group called Danville Freecycle, a community of folks who may have items to give away or need items others might be giving away.
  • I cannot believe how excited I am to get my nails done in about 2 hours… they are in disastrous condition at the moment.  More so, I cannot believe I’m blogging about it.
  • Tonight, Pete, Lucy and I are off to another (sure to be fabulous) Raclette dinner at Ayelet (the self proclaimed Jewish mother’s) house.  ; ) Seriously, it’s a dangerous combination…  Jewish mother + excellent chef combined in one?  Our waistbands don’t stand a chance.

Have a great weekend everyone!!
